Job Summary for Microsoft 365 Administrator (M&A Focus)
- Administer, secure, and optimize the Microsoft 365 platform in enterprise environments.
- Manage and support all core M365 services: Entra ID (Azure AD), Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams, Power Platform, and security/compliance features.
- Lead and execute M&A-related activities, including tenant-to-tenant integrations, identity consolidation, data migrations, and post-merger stabilization.
- Plan and perform migrations of mailboxes, SharePoint/OneDrive content, Teams data, and collaboration workloads.
- Implement and enforce security best practices (Conditional Access, MFA, RBAC, privileged identity management).
- Automate administration tasks using PowerShell and Graph API.
- Collaborate with Security, Legal, HR, Infrastructure, and business stakeholders to ensure compliant and seamless integrations.
- Support all phases of M&A (Day-0, Day-1, Day-2), including cutovers, coexistence, and operational stabilization.
- Develop and maintain migration runbooks, rollback plans, and operational documentation.
- Act as a technical escalation point and mentor for junior administrators and support teams.
- Participate in change management, incident response, and problem management processes.
- Maintain technical documentation, standards, and operational procedures.
- Ensure data governance, retention, and compliance requirements are met during integrations.
Key Qualifications
- 5+ years hands-on experience administering Microsoft 365 in large, complex environments.
- Proven experience with M&A integrations, including tenant migrations/divestitures.
- Expertise in Entra ID (Azure AD), Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Microsoft Teams.
- Proficiency with PowerShell for automation and scripting.
- Strong knowledge of identity management, security, and compliance.
- Experience in hybrid identity setups and troubleshooting complex M365 issues.
- Excellent documentation and communication skills.
Preferred
- Experience with third-party migration tools (Quest, BitTitan, ShareGate).
- Familiarity with Microsoft Purview, eDiscovery, retention, and information protection.
- Experience in regulated or global enterprise environments.
- Relevant Microsoft certifications (M365 Administrator, Identity and Access Administrator, Security Administrator).
- Experience with divestitures or carve-outs.
