Cybersecurity Analyst

Position Overview

We are seeking a Cybersecurity Analyst to support enterprise security operations within a State Government agency. The selected candidate will monitor, detect, and respond to security incidents while maintaining compliance with state and federal security frameworks. This role requires hands-on experience with SIEM platforms, vulnerability management, and incident response processes. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate risk findings clearly to leadership. Experience working in regulated environments is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor security events using SIEM tools and investigate suspicious activities.
• Conduct vulnerability scans and coordinate remediation efforts.
• Develop incident response plans and participate in tabletop exercises.
• Implement and maintain endpoint detection and firewall policies.
• Analyze logs to identify potential security breaches or anomalies.
• Document incident investigations and remediation steps.
• Ensure compliance with NIST and state security frameworks.
• Conduct risk assessments and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Support security audits and compliance reporting activities.
• Collaborate with infrastructure and application teams to strengthen security posture.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity or related field.
• 5+ years of hands-on cybersecurity operations experience.
• Experience working with SIEM platforms such as Splunk or QRadar.
• Demonstrated experience responding to security incidents.
• Strong understanding of NIST and regulatory compliance standards.
• Experience conducting vulnerability assessments.
• Experience managing firewall and endpoint security systems.
• Strong documentation and reporting skills.
• Ability to perform root cause analysis.
• Strong communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Security certifications (CISSP, CISM, CEH).
• Experience in State Government security environments.
• Experience with cloud security monitoring.
